Why Translations, Including Subtitles, Are Important

Translations of all kinds are very important and can bring certain benefits to people. In regards to literary and subtitle translation, there are several benefits. Reading translations of literature such as novels, short stories, essays, and journal articles can allow readers to learn about other cultures, beliefs, and events in a language they understand. In fact, it can challenge readers' beliefs and views on a certain topic and make them see the topic from another angle.

Subtitles also have benefits. For example, having subtitles for an English-language music video in Spanish can allow Spanish-speakers to listen to the song and watch the video in their own language even though the music is in English.

This isn't just for Spanish but for any language. Even if the target audience are proficient in English and can speak and read well in English, most people prefer to read literature, listen to music, or watch movies in their native language.
